General: Tule Bluet Damselfly (Enallagma carunculatum) are small, blue, damselflies that are more blue than black on the abdomen. Black stripe on side of thorax is thick (not pinched in the middle). Blue eye spots connected by a thin blue line. Specific identification requires examining tiny lobes at the end of the abdomen: pale lobes extend beyond cerci.
These active creatures are harmless to humans, but they are voracious predators of small flying insects such as flies and mosquitoes. There are some good places for Watching Damselflies Around Las Vegas.
