General: Desert Marbles Butterflies (Euchloe hyantis lotta) are
medium-sized butterflies recognized by their white wings, white bodies, and small black spots on the wings. The black antenna has a white tip. The underside of the wings is green and white, looking much like an old leaf.
Taxonomy: Family:
Pieridae (whites and sulphurs); Subfamily: Pierinae (whites).
Where to Find: Desert Marbles occur throughout western North America, including southern Nevada, but not in coastal areas. This species can be common in our area during spring and summer.
