General Description: Juniper Titmice (Baeolophus ridgwayi) are small, sexually monomorphic songbirds. They are plain gray above, a little lighter under, and have a crest. Juniper Titmice look almost exactly like Oak Titmice, but Juniper Titmice are more gray under (lack buffy color below), the bill is a bit longer, and the calls and songs are different.
Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Paridae. Formerly lumped with Oak Titmouse as the Plain Titmouse (Baeolophus inornatus).
Favored Habitat: Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands. |
