General: Bigelow's Monkeyflower (Mimulus bigelovii) is an annual forb with tubular, radially unsymmetrical flowers. The flowers are rose to dark magenta with a yellow throat. The leaves are elliptical with a pointed tip and hairy.

Bigelow's Monkeyflower is a fairly common component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained gravelly areas in washes and on bajadas into the lower mountains in the Lower Sonoran (Creosote-Bursage Flats) and Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) life zones.

Around Las Vegas, look for Bigelow's Monkeyflower at lower elevations in Death Valley National Park, Red Rock Canyon NCA, and similar environments.
